Susan Pontin

Susan is a qualified humanistic and integrative psychotherapist. She places high value on the human relationship between client and therapist and calls upon a range of theoretical approaches.

She trained as a psychotherapist at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling after working in Bristol secondary education for many years as a teacher and in the pastoral support of young people.

In 2013 she began working with Trauma Foundation South-West, an organisation that provides long term psychotherapy for asylum seekers and refugees who have had particularly traumatic experience and also provides supervision and training for agencies in the third sector. Since relocating to Sussex she continues to work with this organisation as a supervisor.

Psychotherapy is an opportunity to talk in confidence with another person who listens closely. Susan encourages a purposeful, reflective dialogue which explores present and past experience and its relationship to the choices and decisions we’ve made in the past and hope to make in the future.

She works on the understanding that we are all affected, consciously and unconsciously, by the wider world: the beauty and endangered state of nature, the implications of climate change, the context of our local community, and national and international affairs.

Susan welcomes enquiries from individuals of 18 years old and over.
